Andy Mackenzie will tell you that he was born into the business. With his dad as a television director, he grew up on the sets of famous shows like Family Ties and Moonlighting. “So the acting bug was pretty much inserted early on.” His impressive resume shows it. He has been working extensively in both television and film for the last several years. You no doubt know his face and attitude from hit shows like True Blood and Burn Notice as well as films like MacGruber, where he played one of Val Kilmer’s henchmen and in Shoot ‘Em Up, where he supported Clive Owen.
Andy has just finished with the films A Killer of Men, as well as the bloody horror film, Hidden in the Woods. Additionally, his feature film, Sushi Girl, was widely released in 2013 on DVD/blueray. In this film he had a starring lead role alongside genre icons Mark Hamill, Tony Todd, James Duval and Noah Hathaway.
Other recent credits include a post-civil war NBC pilot, Reconstruction, and a pilot presentation, Finding Hope. He starred as the terrifying lead in an indie thriller Knifepoint and supported Norman Reedus and Christine Lakin in the indie drama Red Canyon. Other films include American Joyride and The Affair. In Ancient Warriors, starring Daniel Baldwin and Richard Lynch, Andy starred as an “intense” villain and was acclaimed as the “shining star of the film” with the “magnetic screen presence resembling that of Gary Oldman or Sean Penn.”
On the television side, he has guest starred in numerous high profile dramas such as Bones, True Blood, Burn Notice, CSI, The Mentalist, Brothers & Sisters, Eli Stone, Women’s Murder Club, CSI: Miami, Shark, Medium, Monk, NYPD Blue, The Practice, The Shield, The O.C., Over There, Charmed, and Freaks and Geeks, to name a few, as well as various sitcoms including Big Bang Theory, United States of Tara, My Name Is Earl, Two and a Half Men, Malcolm in the Middle, The King of Queens, and not to mention, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.
Andy has proven himself to be exceptionally talented in both the dramatic and comedic genres, excelling in his naturalistic acting style. With the rest of his time, Andy acts as the drummer in the band 33DEGREE.
